I lived in Colorado for 15 years and moved here in 2007. This month I traded in my SUV gas-guzzler for a more efficient vehicle. There are no coworkers that live near me, so carpooling it not an option. I work close to the Sandy Trax station. I’ve asked UTA to add a bus stop near my home in Herriman but there aren’t enough residents that need it.
I’m left with no options but to drive the 13 miles.
I don’t feel Utah is doing enough to help the state in cleaning the air. I’d like to know why pickup trucks with performance chips are allowed by law to spew black exhaust. These after market devices should be outlawed!
Does anyone have a suggestion for my predicament with commuting??
On another subject…We need better recycling! Nobody in Utah is motivated to recycle.

I never thought of being green until after moving here from a rural area. I have used TRAX consistently since I moved here over eight years ago, and over the past few years I have found myself getting greener all the time. Salt Lake County does a great job encouraging recycling with the blue bins, and I ride my bike whenever I can – even to church, to the store, to the TRAX station, wherever. Utah might be slow getting going with the green movement, but we are getting there, because more and more people are realizing that it is a “win-win” situation – using less resources pollutes less, costs less, and creates less stress in our lives.
