Salt Lake’s Air Quality – Past success paves the way for a cleaner future
Utah Department of Air Quality
Date: June 18th at 6PM
Location: Salt Lake City Library
Description: The US Environmental Protection Agency is in the process of designating areas of Utah, including counties along the Wasatch Front as non-attainment areas for the recently revised national ambient air quality standards for ground level ozone and fine particulate matter. A State Implementation Plan (SIP) is being designed to meet these revised standards and will face several challenges that may impact its success.
Bryce Bird, Planning Branch Manager with the Utah Division of Air Quality will discuss Utah’s air quality program and past efforts to reduce emissions from industry and transportation sources. Past air quality planning work is the foundation upon which air quality successes in our communities will be built. Bryce will provide examples of the merits of a partnership approach in designing plans that lead to prudent reductions in emissions that are sustainable and result in cleaner and healthier air.
