Transit Tips
Concern regarding public transportation is understandable, however it is an essential service for many in our community. Check the Utah Transit Authority or local transit provider website for the most up-to-date guidelines. Health experts recommend the following:
- Stay home if you are sick or have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or is showing COVID-19 symptoms.
- Maintain 6-feet social distance between other riders and transit drivers, if possible.
- Wearing face coverings while out in public.
- Clean your hands often. Wash vigorously with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water is not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
- Try not to touch shared surfaces and/or frequently touched objects. Use disposable tissue or napkins to touch things like handrails, door handles, etc.
- Use touchless payment and no-touch trash cans and doors when available.
Carpooling and Vanpooling Tips
- Stay home if you are sick or have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or is showing COVID-19 symptoms.
- Don’t ride in a vehicle if the driver or other passengers are not properly wearing face masks.
- Share your commute with only specific networks if you only want to carpool with coworkers or specified groups.
- Limit the number of passengers in the vehicle to only those necessary and should keep their distance, if possible.
- Try not to touch shared surfaces and/or frequently touched objects. Use disposable tissue or spray to clean vehicle surfaces, such as door handles (inside and out), armrests, seatbelts/seatbelt buckles, etc.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
- Improve the ventilation in the vehicle, if possible — for example, by opening the windows or setting the air ventilation/air conditioning on non-recirculation modes.
